For my series I am taking images of my friend. I feel like this will be easier to do than if it was a series on someone I didn't know. Because Sarah is a close friend of mine and it was me who had to help her through her surgery I can really get the feel across of what the whole experience was really like for both of us.
Sarah had decided to have a breast augmentation because she wasn't happy with the way that she looked. I went to all the appointments with her and looked after her after she had the surgery.
Being such good friends meant I could get really personal images as we are so comfortable around each other, which was very helpful for me.
Looking at how other photographers take images of a friend compared to a stranger is interesting as you can tell the different in the image even if they are smiling and look happy that your taking an image of them there is just something about the image that tells you they aren't close friends or don't know each other compared to the images of the photographers friends.
The top image and the bottom right image are pictures are the images of this photographers friends whereas the other two are just people he met that day on the street and in a cafe. I feel like you can defiantly tell with the body language of the people in the images.
This is why I felt it would be best to follow Sarah's journey as we know each other so well and so comfortable around each other there would never be an awkward moment. With the subject being so personal and sometimes a subject people don't want to talk about or admit to having anything done it worked out well for me that she decided to get the surgery done when she did.
