Cosmetic Companies

Before Sarah had her surgery she decided to research into different companies that did the breast augmentation procedure.

These are the two main companies she decided to look into.
In the end she decided to go with MYA.

They had an appointment with her and ended up giving her a whole pack of leaflets to read about..

One of them was the prices of what the surgery would cost and the different ways you could pay for it. The surgery ended up costing £4595, she had to put a deposit down on £500 to secure the date.

They also gave her a timetable of different things she would have to do before and after surgery.

1. Patient Coordinator Introduction:

This is the initial appointment where you meet the person who will coordinate your journey with MYA. In this consultation you will discuss what to expect if you proceed to having an operation- including surgeons, appointments, pre and post operative care, hospitals, pricing, finance options and create a plan for your next steps. Your patient coordinator is your first point of contact and will be with you every step of they way.

2. Surgeon Consultation:

Meeting with a specialised Cosmetic surgeon to discuss your bespoke procedure and exactly what it is the surgeon will do during your operation. This is your opportunity to ask questions, discuss expectations, show photographs of what you want done and review risks of having your desired procedure. A second surgeon's consultation is always available should you wish to meet with them again to review or change certain aspects of your care; a second consult is always required if you wish to change your implant details.

3. Booking Your Operation:

So you can proceed to having your operation with one of MYA's specialised cosmetic surgeons you will need to pay your deposit of £500 to secure the operation date; once this is paid your final balance is then due 56 days before your operation is due to take place. Finance options are available that you can discuss with your patient coordinator.

4. Pre Operative Assessment:

A registered nurse who specialises in cosmetic surgery will perform a health check a minimum of 4 weeks prior to surgery. In this appointment a more detailed medical history will be taken, blood pressure checked, bloods taken if necessary, pre operative photos will be taken for your file and you will be asked if you would like to be contacted by the marketing team; and any other relevant tests as required by your surgeon will be performed. You will also be given emergency contact details and an advice sheet for post operative care.

5. Operation:

You will be given your admission time a few days prior to your operation date. On the day of surgery, you see your surgeon again prior to your procedure and you meet you anaesthetist. It will be either a day case or 1 night stay. Hospital brochure provided by nurse at pre operative assessment. Medication of antibiotics and analgesia (pain relief) will be provided as needed.

6. First Post Operative Check:

Depending upon the procedure, your first post operative check will be 4-7 days after surgery. Our registered nurses will take off any bandages and remove non dissolvable stitches. The registered nurse will check to ensure you are healing well and notify the surgeon of your process.

7. Second Post Operative Check:

This appointment is your 6 week post operative check with the registered nurse. The nurse will again asses and document your healing process. Post operative photos will be taken for your file. Your surgeon will be notified of any changes.

8. Surgeon Post Operative Check:

Depending on the surgeon and your procedure, you will see the surgeon anywhere from 6-12 weeks post operatively. This is to allow time for the swelling to go down, so that your surgeon can see the results of the procedure and assess the outcome. Further appointments to see the surgeon will be provided as needed.

They also gave a couple more leaflets a 100 or so pages long about the operation and the risks that come with it. What to do after the surgery and before it and what not to do.

I got in touch with the company Transform and they sent me leaflets on non surgical procedures such as fillers and Botox  I was surprised at the price of something like lip fillers costing £290-£350 for just the top lip.

I then decided to research where else does these non surgical procedures and was shocked to find out that anyone can do them. A lot of places like hairdressers have people coming in who aren't nurses or qualified doing things like Botox and fillers for as little as £180.

I think this is very dangerous as they could be anyone buying and getting hold of the products to do this with and without knowing what they are really doing properly.
