Real Housewives of Orange County

Programs such as real housewives show surgery all the time throughout the show, it's like a daily and weekly part of their lives. On the show it show's them having different procedures done, but in a very glamourised way, having the best possible surgeon and with the best most expensive companies. Most of the women know the surgeons on first name terms, one of them even being married to a plastic surgeon.

These kind of programs show us a very different side to the cosmetic industry they show a way in which its so glamourised they are trying to put makeup on after they've had a face lift and asking when can they take the bandages off.

Lynne one of the cast of Real Housewives of OC had a facelift which on the show made her unrecognisable. You got to see how they did the surgery and the aftermath of it. It never showed the struggle she would have had after the surgery though it only showed all the good moments she had. Lynne also let her 19 year old daughter Raquel have a nose job the same time she had her facelift.
Lynne even said this.. “It was just a total mother-daughter experience,” she raved. “Recovering together was cool. We got each other ice packs and ordered takeout.”

This just shows how it isn't a big deal to these people on this show, they make it out to be a perfect experience with no complications or worries about anything.

There are many more women on the shows who have had multiple surgeries, even having botox done in there kitchen's while there at home and decided they needed some.

The people on these shows have enough money to get all these procedures done to their bodies at the best possible places. But I feel like it isn't setting a good example for the girls and women or whoever is watching as they don't see any of these operations as a big deal when really there can be so many complications that come with them. Especially when there showing a 19 year old girl having a nose job when in America she wouldn't even legally be allowed to drink.

I feel like the show is glamourising cosmetic surgery and it's being done for all the wrong reasons.
